Subscriptions

What are the benefits of subscribing?

Why am I unable to read a blog post?

If you see the message, "This content is for subscribers only", then you'll need to sign up for at least a Free account to view it.

I'm thinking about or working on a book, but I don't intend release it through Racket Publishing. Would I still benefit by subscribing to this site?

In a word, yes.

Is there a referral program?

Not at this time, but it's certainly possible in the near future.

Publishing

How long does it take to publish a book with Racket?

That's an impossible question to answer with any precision. Way too many variables are at play. Generally speaking, though, Racket can operate at a speed that legacy publishers cannot come close to matching. Even some larger hybrid presses would be hard-pressed to match Racket's velocity.

What types of books does Racket publish?

Prescriptive non-fiction is our wheelhouse.

Does Racket offer author advances?

No.

If I publish my book with Racket, who owns the copyright and intellectual property?

You do. Forever and ever.

Will Racket take a percentage of my future book royalties?

No.

Will Racket consider working at a discount in exchange for a percentage of future royalties?

For both philosophical and logistical reasons, the answer is no.

Where can I view Racket's service rates?

At the bottom of this page.

RacketHub

Isn't RacketHub just a fancy project-management tool?

That's like calling a McLaren P1 a coffee cup holder. Yeah, it will do that, but you're just scratching its surface.

If I work with Racket, do I have to use RacketHub?

Technically no, but you'll spend far more money as a result and. the project won't go nearly as smoothly as it would have.

After our project ends, can I use RacketHub on my own?

Not unless you purchase a proper license.

For more RacketHub FAQs, see the bottom of this page.

Other

What's the deal with the name Racket?

Founder Phil Simon enjoys tennis. Plus, it's a hat tip to Marillion's Racket Records.

How does Racket price its services?

We price high-variability services on an hourly basis. It's impossible to know in advance how long a given ghostwriting, project management, developmental editing, design, and other project will take.

Book brainstorming jobs cost a flat rate of $3,500. The variance for this type of work tends to be much lower, making hourly tracking less important.

Who built this website?

Cathy Sarisky managed the site's migration from WordPress to Ghost. She's amazing.

I'd like to write a guest post for this site. Is that possible?

Not at this time.
